Meet some of our volunteers
Etido is a Covid Tech Support volunteer and an active code4covid community member. So far he's helped support 5 projects using his skills in SEO, web development and copywriting. He was the first recipient of Covid Tech Support's Volunteer of the Month award and is now looking to help projects with data analysis.
As part of the Covid Tech Support volunteer team, Eleanor has been using her marketing skills to help us reach charities who may need our help: “Covid Tech Support has brought together the most fantastic group of people, all willing to get stuck in and find solutions. I’m sure many would agree that there isn’t a better feeling than knowing you’ve helped contribute to a charity’s ability to reach others in need, and even in some cases a charity’s survival. This is all thanks to the wonderful group of selfless individuals who have volunteered their time and expertise, making it a community I’m proud to be a part of.”
Dimple is a recipient of our Volunteer of the Month award after putting her web development and WordPress skills to use in helping 7 projects improve their web presence. These projects are supporting causes such as drug and alchohol rehabilitation, childcare, disability and upskilling. “I volunteered with Covid Tech Support during lockdown so I could assist charities during their time of need. I also wanted to make productive use of my extra free time. I had previously found it difficult to find volunteering opportunities that matched my skillset and projects that were actively looking for help, until I found Covid Tech Support. I felt a sense of accomplishment when the website went live to users. I have learnt new skills and practised existing ones, which I can apply to my job.”
As part of the Covid Tech Support matchmaker team, Viveka works with projects to identify their digital needs and finds volunteers from code4covid who can help them: “Covid Tech Support has been instrumental in providing me with an opportunity to help communities during this pandemic. It's a great feeling to see everyone's positivity and commitment to help, and how technology is playing a crucial role in helping the charities who help those in need. A privilege to be part of this amazing team! 'The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest intention.'– Oscar Wilde.”
Soraya was awarded our Volunteer of the Month award after bringing her user experience research skills to several projects: “It’s been a huge pleasure to be involved with Covid Tech Support and to offer some of my time and skills to help those that are helping others. I’ve been able to see the incredible work that non-profit organisations and charities have been doing during the pandemic, and it’s been amazing to work with them to help them identify and achieve their digital goals.
These organisations often get left behind when it comes to digital and technical help, so what Covid Tech Support has done to step in and bridge that gap is phenomenal. It’s been a privilege to be part of a group of like minded people, motivated to make sure no one falls behind or loses out because they do not have the technical means. I’m so proud to be a part of this team and what Covid Tech Support has achieved already.”
